Saint Sophia Cathedral was built in stone
between 1045 and 1050 by Vladimir of Novgorod. The height
is 38 meters, it has five domes.
Cathedral of Christ
the Saviour was built in 1860; it is situated in
Moscow.
The cathedral suffered from atheistic views during the Soviet times and
was destroyed. After Russia gained the independence, it was
reconstructed.
Saint Basil's Cathedral was built
between 1556
and 1562 in Moscow to celebrate joining of the Khanate of Kazan. The
other famous religious buildings are Assumption Cathedral in
Vladimir,Cathedral of the Annunciation,Cathedral of the Archangel,
Cathedral of the Dormition, Church of the Savior on Blood etc.
Each country tries to remember what predecessors made. Russia isn't an
exception. It has hundreds of museums throughout the country.
The
Hermitage (more about
Saint-Petersburg)
is one of the oldest and biggest museums in the world. The
collection takes up more than 300 halls in 5 buildings (the
Winter
Palace as well). There are over 2,9 mil. exhibits from ancient periods
to our times.
The State Tretyakov Gallery
is situated in
Moscow. It's one of the
greatest museums in Russia with over 105 000 works of art that depict
the whole history of Russia. The museum was founded by Pavel
Tretyakov, after his death the collection of the
gallery
grew quickly. The museums are dedicated not only to writers, famous
people, but sometimes to things. In St. Petersburg, you can find t

Russian Vodka Museum.
You're supposed to get to know the history of vodka that accounts 500
years. You'll have the opportunity to taste the different types of

world recognizable ballet schools. The theatre traditions have a long
history. In the Russian Empire, the nobility tried to have their own

popularity. Moscow Musical Comedy Theatre, Lenkom Theatre, MHAT,
Vakhtangov Theatre and other in Moscow and, for instance, Mariinsky
Opera and Ballet in St. Petersburg enrich the culture of the
country.
