Sochi is a famous Russian resort city. It is located in Krasnodar Krai along the coasts of the Black Sea. It was founded in 1864. According to the 2002 Census, there are about 329,000 inhabitants in the city.

 Sochi has won the right to host the XXII Olympic Winter Games (2014). "Why winter? It should be Summer Games! - you might say. Nevertheless, Sochi connects both a pleasant atmosphere to lie in the sun and swim in the sea and go in for winter sports because there are Caucasian Mountains here. Sochi has a humid subtropical climate. Winter temperatures are seldom below freezing (average 42.8 °F). The average summer temperatures are 77 °F - 82.4 ° (please, refer to Weather in Russia).

Joseph Stalin (see History of Russia) made Sochi a fashionable place for rest. It was an area where he built his dacha. Now one can observe the specific so-called Stalin's style in architecture.

Several millions of people go to Sochi every summer, because the city hosts the annual film festival "Kinotavr" and better-off people choose Sochi as a place for rest. Travel Russia and visit this festival too!

Many businessmen choose City of Sochi to conduct their affairs especially from September till May, when other parts of Russia suffer from cold. Sochi is protected from cold cyclones by the Caucasian Mountains that make all seasons quite warm.
